Whether you are currently looking to move to Salida or you already live here, one thing is for sure: this corner of Colorado is blessed with tons of things to do. Whether you love being outdoors or prefer to soak up the arts indoors, Salida has something for you.
With that in mind, we wanted to let you in on a few of the activities in Salida you might not have heard of. Now that the weather is ideal, we hope you get some enjoyment out of them, too. Without further ado, here is the list of off-the-beaten-path activities!
Rocky Mountain Mini Golf
You never really grow out of mini golf, better known as putt-putt. Rocky Mountain Mini Golf is located just on the western side of Salida and is a great family activity for people of all ages. Open 10 A.M -9 P.M. so it’s a great daytime or evening activity.
Monarch Scenic Tram
We certainly aren’t deficient in scenic views and the Monarch Tram provides a view of up to 100 miles on a clear day. Bring your camera and snap a photo at the top of the world (11k+ feet) with out of town guests to knock their socks off. Don’t forget a jacket – it can be cold and windy at the peak all year round!
Salida Hot Springs
Tough day hiking? The area surrounding Salida is rich with natural warm water. The Salida Hot Springs has soaking tubs, swimming pools and spaces for the kiddos. If you’re looking for something away from all the commotion, they also offer private soaking rooms to rent by the hour. Located nearly right across the street from Rocky Mountain Mini Golf on the west end of town.
Mt Shavano Fish Hatchery
Here’s a fun activity you may never have thought about – the fish hatchery receives guests and allows you to feed the fingerlings. Bring along a packed lunch and camp out at one of the nearby picnic spots. Whether you’re a fisherman or not, the experience is both informative and fun. Who knows, maybe one of the fish here will put up a fight on the end of your fly fishing line one day!
Stage Left Theatre Company
If the weather is making for one of those perfect afternoons, head over to the riverfront and check out a production from Stage Left. This theatre company puts on modern interpretations of classics in a great setting fit for a picnic during the summer and a great renovated building during the colder months. It operates with a suggested donation, but the plays are free of charge.
Noah’s Ark Rafting
Feeling adventurous? Just outside of Salida you can take the whole family rafting with Noah’s Ark, a family- friendly professional company. Experience the thrill of flowing down the Arkansas river, cresting huge rapids and staying (mostly) dry..if you’re lucky.
We hope these suggestions give you some new ideas activities whether you are a resident or visitor. Remember, if you’re looking to come join us in this slice of heaven in Colorado, call Western Mountain Real Estate today for all your Realtor needs!
